Chiado is one of the most elegant neighbourhoods in Lisbon, behind the busy center where the action happens lies the real Chiado where you will find some of the most beautiful streets in in the city, filled with opulent buildings and elegant façades, from apartments to palatial homes, there is something for everyone, and here you can also find some of the best views in the city, it is no wonder why Chiado has some of the highest prices per square meter in Lisbon.

As with any good neighbourhood, Chiado does benefit from a few gardens and local squares, my favourite being the iconic Largo do Carmo, known for being the stage of the revolution in April of 1974, today this charming place is shared by residents and visitors taking in the beautiful surroundings and catching up with friends at the local Quiosque.

Some of my favorite buildings in the city are located in Chiado, like the ruins of the Convento do Carmo, a standing reminder of the devastation of the 1755 earthquake, and Palacio Chiado, an 18th century palace converted into an unique bar and restaurant concept presenting the original beauty of the palace.

Sophisticated by nature, Chiado had a history of attracting Bohemians and intelectuals and and today attracts a mix of local and international residents seeking central living while enjoying the peace and quiet of its residential streets and having easy access to the area’s historical cafes, fine dining restaurants and outstanding shopping.
